How Grace Community Church 3x'd Their Widow Care Visits

Grace Community Church has always valued caring for widows, but as their congregation grew to 850 members, so did the challenge of keeping track of everyone who needed care. With 45 widows in their congregation and only 12 volunteer visitors, visits were sporadic and uncoordinated. Some widows went months without contact, while others received duplicate visits from different volunteers who didn't know someone else had already stopped by. The care team leader spent hours each week just trying to coordinate schedules and track who had visited whom. "We knew we weren't living up to James 1:27," Pastor Miller admitted. "We wanted to care well for every widow, but we just couldn't keep track of everything with spreadsheets and phone calls."

Before each visit, volunteers received a personalized summary including conversation starters based on the widow's interests, updates from recent visits, and prayer points. Volunteers felt more prepared and confident walking into visits. "The briefings helped our volunteers connect on a deeper level," said Mary Johnson, the care team coordinator.
